Remember Who Invited You to the Party?

I can help you remember. Remember the day that people lined up to cast their vote? Those people standing in line were the people that thought YOU were the change we needed in this country. Remember when everyone believed you when you said you would stand up for what you believed? But then you got elected and all you cared about was whether you were going to keep your prestigious position. This is where it all went wrong. That's when your ideals changed from the good of the people to the good of your party. Our founding fathers did not create party politics and I know that they would have never envisioned this kind of problem in their country. Do you think that no one notices that the stance you take is the stance your party pressures you to take? Do you think it goes unseen when you water down your opinions for fear that people judge you harshly? Everyone sees this, everyone knows that you have sacrificed your own opinion, not for the good of the country but for the good of yourself.  One day you will not get the chance to have an opinion. One day this problem will get so bad that when a politician stands up for what he believes there will not be anyone left who trusts him.  Once you and the rest of our elected officials lose the trust of the people, the very foundation of our democracy is in jeopardy. Individuals in political parties are meant to have the same ideals, not the same opinion on every topic. Political parties are not supposed to control everything that you, our representative, does. Someone needs to do something, someone needs to make the change that everyone is talking about. You are letting down the people who voted for you. Remember who invited you to the party?
